Vegetarian Deli at Nori's Village Market
The vegetarian deli at Nori's has grown considerably over the past few years. We start our morning baking fresh muffins and brewing excellent fair-trade, organic and locally roasted coffees. Then we make a nice daily selection of sandwiches, hot meals and vegetarian soups. Throughout the day we continually make salads and other baked goods all from natural and organic ingredients. We hope you can come in and enjoy our own cooked food.
Fresh
Food Made Daily at Nori’s
MUFFINS! We make vegan muffins
every morning. They are made with whole wheat pastry flour,
canola oil, soy milk, vanilla, baking powder, salt. The flavor of
the day varies, usually a fruit or berry, sometimes with nuts…
COOKIES! We almost always have
Kristen’s Vegan Everything Cookies, with oats, raisins, walnuts,
and chocolate chips. Other types of cookies include but are not
limited to: peanut butter cookies, cream cheese cookies with jelly
center, classic chocolate chip, Ginger-Molasses, Oatmeal-Currant with
Almonds, etc.
BROWNIES! Located at the first
register, our basket of chocolate brownies tempts to every customer who
checks out. Our brownies are a classic recipe made with organic
whole wheat pastry real
chocolate, butter, and eggs.
COFFEE! We brew Equal Exchange
coffee which is certified Fair Trade and Organic. We also brew Gimme
Coffee roasted in Ithaca, NY which who buys several varieties of
organic coffee at a fair trade or above rate. We brew five kinds
each day, one decaf, and a range of dark to medium roasts.
SOUPS!
Our soups are made from everything we sell, including organic and
local produce, organic diary, organic rice, organic beans and pasta.
Everyday we offer two kinds of soups usually one that is creamy or non
vegan and one that is vegan. Our soups can simple and nice or gourmet
and delicious.
BURRITOS! We have these
EVERYDAY. Our classic vegetarian burrito consists of: black
beans, long grain brown rice, corn, onions, peppers, spices, and
cheddar cheese. It is in a whole wheat tortilla, baked to
perfection. We also offer a vegan burrito, identical except we
substitute “Tofutti”, a vegan sour cream, for the cheddar.
PIZZA! All kinds of pizza.
We make our own whole wheat herb crust, which is also available frozen
in dough form. As of November 2009 we are now making mini pizzas every
Friday.
HUMMUS: A vegan spread made of
chickpeas, tahini, lemon juice, and garlic. We make three
flavors: regular, cilantro-lime, and roasted garlic/red pepper.
SALADS: We make two kinds of
green salads that are available all the time:
Greek Salads are romaine lettuce with
stuffed grape leaves, feta chunks sprinkled with oregano, whole
kalamata olives, tomato wedges, pepperoncini peppers or lemon slices,
and a red wine
vinegar/olive oil dressing.
Garden Salads include green leaf
lettuce, grated carrots, thin-sliced red cabbage, sprouts, and tomato
wedges, and they come with your choice of dressings. We have
home-made balsamic vinaigrette, creamy bleu cheese, honey-dijon, or
Annie’s Vegan Goddess Dressing (tahini-lemon).
Then there are the “deli
salads” as we like to call them. These may include, but are
not limited to:

The
Sandwich Schedule as of February 2010
We typically make from
8 to 20 sandwiches or wraps plus a few surprises from our
schedule.
We are happy to receive suggestions relating to any of our foods,
however we do not take orders. If our sandwiches stick around
until
the next day, they will get deeply discounted and snatched up by the
early
bargain shoppers. While we reserve the right to surprise you with
non-scheduled items, you can expect to find these sandwiches in our
deli case unless we are out of ingredients or there are other
unforeseen circumstances. However, we cannot guarantee that these
sandwiches will be here when you get here.
Monday
Falafel Wrap: Crunchy fried chickpea balls, with a creamy
cucumber raita or a lemon dill tahini sauce, and lettuce or greens in a
spinach tortilla.
The Veggie Turkey: Celebration Roast,
Cranberry Sauce, Greens and Brown Gravy.
Egg Salad Sandwich: Hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, & spices on
sprouted grain bread with crispy leaf lettuce.
Tuesday
Breakfast Sandwich: Scrambled eggs with cheese, veggies and other
surprises.
Greek Wrap: Stuffed grape leaves, hummus, feta crumbles, romaine lettuce, chopped kalamata olives, and balsamic vinaigrette in a spinach tortilla.
Asian Rice Wrap: Teryaki tofu, with spinach or greens, jasmine rice with pineapple, scallions, carrot, onion, and thai spices in a tomato tortilla.
Egg Salad Sandwich: Hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, & spices on sprouted grain bread with crispy leaf lettuce.
Veggie
Burgers: Our own vegan burgers, made from scratch, on a
whole wheat bun with various accouterments.
Wednesday
Avocado Wrap: Ripe avocados served in
various styles.
Sweet Potato Wrap: We start with
roasted sweet potatoes/onions/garlic & herbs, add balsamic
viniagrette marinated black beans, baby spinach and end with shredded
cheddar cheese.
Eggplant parmesan: Real provolone cheese, Nori's own pesto, breaded and fried eggplant parmesan on sourdough, grilled to perfection
Egg Salad Sandwich: Hard boiled eggs,
mayonnaise, & spices on
sprouted grain bread with crispy leaf lettuce.
Thursday
Breakfast Burrito: An ever-changing
selection of filling with cheese & eggs.

BLT: Tempeh Fakin' Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato and a tasty dressing.

Veggie Sushi: A tasteful selection of
vegetables & rice served wrapped in nori with soy sauce and
wasabi.
Friday
Pizza Friday: Every Friday we are firing up the oven to make a tasty
unique "pizza of the day".
Egg Salad Sandwich: Hard boiled eggs, mayonnaise, & spices on
sprouted grain bread with crispy leaf lettuce.
Reuben: Thymed Tempeh, Russian dressing, swiss cheese, and
sauerkraut on rye, grilled to perfection.
Roasted Portabella: Mushroom with Chevre (creamy goat cheese), roasted red peppers, and spinach or greens.
Tofu
Cutlett: Marinated tofu, breaded and baked with greens and pesto
nayonaise.
Saturday
Breakfast Burrito: An ever-changing
selection of filling with cheese & eggs.
BLT: Tempeh Fakin' Bacon, Lettuce & Tomato and a tasty dressing.
Veggie
Burgers: Our own vegan burgers, made from scratch, on a
whole wheat bun with various accouterments.
Sunday
Breakfast Sandwich: Scrambled eggs with cheese and soy sausage,
on an English Muffin.
The Veggie Italian: Tomato, Basil Pesto,
and fresh mozzarella and greens.
Hummus: Our own hummus, on multi-grain bread, with sprouts, carrots, lettuce, and tomato.
